Judith Lungen - Creator and Executive Director

Born in Jersey City, raised in the heart of the Borscht Belt. Judy's life was shaped by two great passions - the arts and travel.  From the age of eight, Judy ventured into an extensive education in theatre, music and fine arts.  Her most rewarding artistic opportunity came with an invitation to join a professional summer stock musical-theatre-in-the-round repertory company.  Attracted to performing, Judy's real love was working behind the scenes.  From lighting design to stage management, her greatest education came as assistant to director Bernie Barr.

Pursuing her dream to travel and study abroad, Judy received her B.A. from the American College of Jerusalem in Art and Journalism. Completing the required military service in the Israeli army, Judy traveled to Europe. She arrived in England and immediately began to participate in art exhibitions where her watercolors and charcoal drawings were hung in several venues including the British Federation of Artists' prestigious 'The Mall Galleries' in London.

Judy was invited to join a newly established children's book publishing company. From contracts to graphic design, Judy was part of the original  team of five that started Walker Books. The company was created and owned by the late Sebastian Walker.  Walker Books expanded into a multimillion dollar international publishing enterprise. As the publishing house matured, the list of writers and illustrators under contract grew to include Iris Murdock, Russell Hoban, Marina Warner, Lady Selena Hastings, Margaret Lane, Christina Gasgoine and Helen Oxenbury.

After six years of working in London, Judy started traveling again. She would travel and live in Martinique, Key West, Paris, Montreal, Las Vegas and New York. After leaving London, writing replaced painting and radio broadcast journalism would become her next major professional endeavor.

In 1990 Judy met Armondo LInus Acosta, an independent award-winning film director, cinematographer, writer and designer. He invited her to attend the Venice Film Festival World Premiere of his motion picture, Romeo.Juliet.  Starring the British voice over cast of Vanessa Redgrave, Sir Ben Kingsley, Dame Maggie Smith, Robert Powell, Francesca Annis, Quentin Crisp and John Hurt, the film was designed as a 'Film in Concert' featuring the Prokofiev score performed live with a full orchestra.

After being assigned to Hollywood as a public relations official for the production company's Academy Award Nomination procedure, Judy represented Mr. Acosta in negotiations with notable Hollywood agents and legal representatives including: Jeff Berg, Gary Concoff, Barry Hirsch, Edward Limato, Guy McElwaine, Paula Wagner, and Jonathan Weisgal.

Judy also met with ballet legend, Rudolf Nureyev, Maestros Lalo Schifrin and Valery Gergiev and executives at ICM, CAA, Columbia Artists, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, The Kirov Orchestra, The Hollywood Bowl and Lincoln Center.

In 1995 Judy joined the Jerusalem Film Center and Jerusalem Film Festival as Administrative Coordinator and Spokesperson. Instrumental in expanding foreign press coverage, she was responsible for bringing many prominent film personalities to Jerusalem, including Alan Rickman, Roberto Benigni, Ang Lee, Christopher Hampton, Chen Kaige, Jeroen Krabbe, Guglielmo Biraghi, Jon Kilik, Elda Ferri and Bob Hoskins.

Continuing her relationship with the Jerusalem Film Festival, Judy founded Piccolo Productions.  Within six months contracts were overflowing with a variety of clients and projects. In 2002 she accepted an invitation to teach at The Academy of Film and The Arts in Gent, Belgium. While at the Academy, Judy created, produced and directed an original live stage version of 'The Cotton Club.'  In 2003, she was invited by The Medici Steps Bistro to produce, direct and coordinate their evening entertainment during the ten day Gentsefest Extravaganza.  Both events marked the turning point for Piccolo Productions.

In 2005 Judy returned to the United States, established a home in Las Vegas where she continues her work in theatre and the arts.  Projects under development include, Veneration Of The Holy Mother (full length ballet motion picture); Chapeau Noir (live theatrical musical revue); Da Doo Ron Ron (live theatrical musical revue, dedicated to 'all those girls); and a documentary film, We Were Partners.

Judy is a member of 'Women in Film' and is a former judge for the Nevada Film Commission's national script writing competition.
