Born in Jersey City, raised in the heart of the Borscht Belt, Judy's life is shaped by two great passions - the arts and travel. From the age of eight Judy ventured into an extensive education in theatre, music and fine arts. Her most rewarding artistic opportunity came with an invitation to join a professional summer stock musical-theatre-in-the-round repertory company. Attracted to performing, Judy's real love was working behind the scenes. From lighting design to stage management, her greated education came as assistant to director Bernie Barr.
Pursing her dream to travel and study abroad, Judy received her B.A. from the American College of Jerusalem in Art and Journalism. Completing the required military service in the Israeli army, Judy soon traveled to Europe. After arriving in England, Judy participated in art exhibitions where her watercolors and charcoal drawings were hung in several venues including the prestigious 'The Mall Galleries' in London.
Judy was invited to work at a newly established children's book publishing company. From contracts to graphic design, Judy was part of the original team of five that started Walker Books. The company expanded into a multi-million dollar international publishing enterprise. As Walker Books matured, the list of writers and illustrators under contract grew to include Iris Murdock, Russell Hoban, Marina Warner, Lady Selena Hastings, Margaret Lane, Christina Gasgoine and Helen Oxenbury.
After six years of working in London, Judy started traveling again. She would travel and live in Martinique, Key West, Paris, Montreal, Las Vegas and New York. Writing replaced painting and radio news broadcasting would become her next profession.
In 1990 Judy met film maker and designer, Armondo LInus Acosta. He invited her to attend the Venice Film Festival World Premiere of his motion picture, Film in Concert Romeo.Juliet. Assigned to Hollywood as a public relations official during the production company's Academy Award Nomination procedure and collaborating with Mr. Acosta in developing a strategy for the World Tour, Judy represented him in negotations with Jeff Berg, Barry Hirsch, Gary Concoff, Rudolf Nureyev, Edward Limato, Paula Wagner, Lalo Schifrin, Valery Gergiev, executives at ICM, CAA, Columbia Artists, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, The Hollywood Bowl and Lincoln Center.
In 1995 Judy joined the Jerusalem Film Festival and Film Center as Adminstrative Coordinator and Spokesperson. Instrumental in expanding the festival's international press coverage, Judy was responsible for bringing many prominent film personalities to the city, including Alan Rickman, Roberto Benigni, Ang Lee, Christopher Hampton, Chen Kaige, Jeroen Krabbe, John Shlesinger, Mike Leigh, Guglielmo Biraghi and Bob Hoskins.
Continuing her relationship with the Jerusalem Film Festival, Judy founded Piccolo Productions. Within six months contracts were overflowing with a variety of clients and projects. In 2002 she accepted an invitation to teach at The Academy of Film and The Arts in Gent, Belgium. While at the Academy, Judy created, produced and directed an original live stage version of 'The Cotton Club.' In 2003, she was invited by The Medici Steps Bistro to produce, direct and coordinate their evening entertainment during theten day Gentsefest Extravaganza. Both events marked the turning point for Piccolo Productions.
A member of 'Women in Film,' a judge for the Nevada Film Commission's national script writing competition and a member of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Nevada, Judy established a home in Las Vegas where she continues her work in theatre and the arts.
